All Things LED and skin care
Just like the Sochy Handset,
A face mask is the ultimate form of self-care. Not only are they a great way to relax and de-stress after a long day, but they also do wonders for your skin, all the while you’re kicking back in a bubble bath with a glass of vino.
Here at Sochy, we’re all about keeping your skincare routine clean and staying away from harmful chemicals so we’re bringing you three DIY face mask recipes with ingredients you’ve got sitting in your kitchen.
The Red Light skin soother
This face mask works best alongside Sochy’s Red light setting on your handset, which will help to reduce inflammation and boost collagen production for glowing, calm skin.
What you need:
- Honey
- Coconut Oil
- Avocado
- Essential Oils (if you want to get fancy about it.)
Putting it all together:
Mix equal parts coconut oil and honey together and combine with enough avocado for the mixture to become thick and mouse-like. Drop-in some essential oils to really get your zen-on and voila! Leave on for 20 mins to reveal a smoother, fresher faced you.
The Blue Light Acne Buster
This face mask uses honey, which is a natural antibacterial agent, working perfectly alongside Sochy’s blue light on your handset to clear your acne right up, and it tastes damn good.
What you need:
- Chamomile Tea
- Honey
- Nutritional Yeast
Putting it all together:
Brew a cup of chamomile tea using two tea bags and let it cool completely. Stir together a tablespoon of honey and a teaspoon of nutritional yeast. Slowly stir in the chamomile tea to the honey mix to make a paste. Apply a thin layer on your face and leave for 20 mins to beat acne while letting the chamomile aromas help you relax completely.
The Green Light Complexion Saviour
Use this mask alongside the Sochy Green Light on your handset to uncover a bright, even complexion. The lactic acid in the yoghurt works to rejuvenate skin by bringing new skin cells to the surface. It's basically a breakfast smoothie for your face.
What you need:
Plain yoghurt
Honey
Turmeric Powder
Putting it all together:
In a bowl, make a paste combining equal parts yoghurt, turmeric and honey. Apply a thin layer on your face and leave for 20 mins. Get ready to win the day with a new and improved complexion!
So there you have it, three DIY face masks you can use alongside your Sochy Handset, all in the comfort of your own home. Now you can seriously level-up your at-home self-care.
The saying goes, you are what you eat, and this couldn’t be more true when it comes to your skin.
We all love a good burger, pizza, bottle of wine… or two. But the reality is, glowing, radiant skin starts from the inside, and it starts with your diet.
We can’t be perfect all the time and, well, pasta is really good. So by combining Sochy’s Handset and incorporating a few beauty-boosting foods you can say hello to radiant, clear skin.
So, what exactly are these beauty-boosting foods?
Probiotics & Prebiotics
Clear, healthy skin starts with a healthy gut and it's no secret the foundations of a healthy gut are probiotics and prebiotics.
Probiotics help to calm an inflamed gut and therefore, calm inflamed skin, reducing breakouts and redness. Our top probiotic food picks are Kombucha, which is basically just like non-alcoholic, skin-boosting champagne, sauerkraut, yoghurt, kefir and miso.
As for Prebiotics, foods such as garlic, leek, dandelion and asparagus are super nourishing for your gut and help to restore the balance of healthy bacteria. A healthy balance on the inside will translate to rejuvenated, glowing skin on the outside. So grill some asparagus or whip up some garlic bread and your skin will thank you.
Low-GI Foods
If you are making garlic bread, make sure you use wholemeal or wholegrain bread. Boring I know, but high-glycemic-index (High-GI) foods have been linked to inflammation and acne in particular. You should aim to swap foods like refined carbs, white bread and white pasta with their low-GI counterparts, like quinoa, brown rice and wholegrain bread. Eating low-GI foods is a sure-fire way to reduce acne and quinoa porridge is pretty damn good.
Berries
Bring on the berries! We all know berries are high in anti-oxidants, and anti-oxidants are powerful anti-inflammatories which help the body to protect itself against free-radicals, revealing clear and nourished skin. So bask in the summer sun with a bowl of berries and live out your Mamma-mia dreams.
Unfortunately, wine doesn’t count, but nice try.
Leafy Greens
Yes, we’re talking about kale and spinach. These leafy greens are packed with Vitamin A, working against dry and scaly skin and help to boost collagen by providing the body with Vitamin C promoting tighter, plumper skin. They also contain Vitamin E and folate, fighting against inflammation and help to repair damaged skin cells. If you can’t stomach the idea of eating a salad, put your leafy greens in a smoothie with some berries (bonus points) and protein powder for a serious skin-boosting smoothie.
The bottom-line…
Your diet won’t be perfect, but that’s where your Sochy Handset comes in, giving you an added skin boost for those times when you just want a pizza. Combined with consistent use of your Sochy Handset, and incorporating some of the above skin-boosting foods, you can eat and light your way to glowing, clear skin.
Now, go and make a smoothie and have a Sochy light therapy session for the ultimate self-care routine.
The reality is, for most, getting a blissful eight hours of sleep each night isn’t feasible. Life just gets in the way, (or a new Netflix series). Under-eye bags are the unfortunate consequences of late nights and early mornings and more often than not, they’re not something that even concealer can fix.
Your Sochy Skin handset will help rejuvenate your skin and leave you with a glowing complexion no matter your sleep schedule. But for a little extra help on those tricky to reach areas, we’re recommending the best tips and treatments for those stubborn under-eye bags.
1. Start with your diet.
Sorry, I know this is probably not really what you want to hear, but those under-eye bags could be a product of those bags of chips you consumed on the weekend. Salty foods are known to cause water retention which can affect the appearance of your under-eye. Water-retention caused by salty and processed foods can cause redness and puffiness under the eye, making under-eye bags really stand out.
2. Cucumbers over your eyes * hello at-home spa vibes *
So cucumber over your eyes isn’t just something you see in movies or at really fancy day spas. Applying cold cucumbers to your eyes for roughly five minutes acts as an anti-inflammatory and can help to reduce under-eye puffiness, helping you look more awake and rejuvenated.
Another household item you can put over your eyes… Green Tea Bags! Make sure the tea bags are chilled when you put them over your eyes as the cold combined with the caffeine helps to compress blood vessels therefore decreasing puffy eyelids.
If you really want to get creative, cold spoons are also a great remedy. Pop them in the freezer overnight and place then over the eyes for five minutes and say goodbye to under-eye bags!
Be sure to use the right ingredients and products in your skincare routine.
While getting a good night's sleep is important, what you put on your skin is equally as important and there are a few key ingredients that can work wonders on dark under-eyes.
🟢 Hyaluronic Acid has become increasingly popular, and for good reason. HA hydrates and plumps skin. It works to brighten the skin, therefore, correcting dark under-eye circles.
🟢 Retinol: This skin-care saviour is a derivative of vitamin A and helps to prevent fine lines and wrinkles from forming by promoting skin cell rejuvenation. Be sure to get retinol products that are specifically designed for use on the eye area, which will help improve the texture and colour of the skin. If you’re prone to sensitive skin, start with a small amount on another area of the skin to ensure it won’t irritate.
🟢 Peptides: Finding an eye-cream with peptides will work wonders for dull-looking under-eye circles. Peptides are the foundations of collagen production and therefore helps to stimulate their growth.
So there you have it, three tips and tricks to reduce those under-eye bags. Incorporate these alongside your Sochy Skin LED Handset for plumper, vibrant under-eyes that can trick your boss, your kids, your friends and even YOU into thinking you got a full eight hours. Thank us later.
With every second skincare product claiming to be for oily skin, sensitive skin, normal skin, it can be tough out there, especially if you’re not a skincare guru (aka sometimes go to sleep without taking your make-up off)!
At Sochy skin, we’re all about keeping your skincare routine simple, efficient but effective so we’ve compiled a few super easy tips to determine your skin type so that you can get the most out of your skincare routine and your Sochy Skin Handset.
Normal Skin:
For those with normal skin, you’ve been given a gift from the gods and rarely experience breakouts, you don’t react badly to new products and your skin doesn’t constantly feel dry or patchy. Luck you!
Normal skin means you’ve got a bit more free reign to play around with products because you can tolerate most ingredients. A gentle exfoliant along with using your Sochy Skin Handset will help keep your t-zone and cheek areas balanced so that you can take your ‘normal skin’ to clean, clear and glowy skin.
Oily:
Do you constantly feel like five minutes after you put make-up on, your skin always seems to be glowing, and not in a good way, like the sweaty post-workout kind of way? You most likely have oily skin. This means that makeup and skincare don’t always stay put and you constantly find yourself reaching for the mattifying powders.
Oily skin does have its benefits, like leading to fewer wrinkles later in life (score!), but the excessive shine and breakouts can get annoying. To remedy this, stay away from mineral oil, petrolatum and alcohol in your skincare products and instead reach for non-comedogenic products as they won’t clog up your pores. You still need to moisturise so steer clear of oil-based moisturisers and include some clay masks and light exfoliants into your skincare routine alongside your Sochy Skin handset to get your skin glowing (the good kind of glow!)
Dry:
If your skin constantly feels tight and a bit like sandpaper, you most likely have dry skin. Dry skin isn’t just a matter of not drinking enough water (although it could be), usually, it’s the case that your skin struggles to retain moisture or struggles to produce enough oil in the skin. This can lead to noticeable flakiness or sensitivity.
Your Sochy Skin Handset works wonders to boost collagen production and improve your skin’s complexion. So alongside your handset, be sure to apply a rich moisturiser morning and night and try not to expose your skin to extremely cold or extremely hot environments, (yeah, that ski trip in the Swiss Alps won’t be a friend to your dry skin). Use water-based products and get into a good habit of drinking lots of water throughout the day to replenish your skin.
Skin-care is not a one-size-fits-all approach so working out your skin type is the first step to nailing your skin-care routine. Pay attention to your skin and find what works for you. Finding the right products to use alongside your Sochy Skin Handset will amplify your results, leaving you with a rejuvenated, glowing complexion.
